Frosty Morning Horse Photoshoot in Draycott – Tom the Grey Gelding

A Frosty Morning in Draycott with Tom

Tom is a stunning grey gelding who has shared years of adventures with his owner, Susan from hunting and dressage to eventing and jumping. Now enjoying a quieter life on hacks, Tom’s calm temperament made for a beautiful, relaxed winter photoshoot on a frosty morning.

The frost on the ground, the crisp winter air, and the quiet of the yard created the perfect backdrop to capture the bond between horse and rider. These moments aren’t just photographs, they are timeless memories that celebrate years of companionship and love.

Capturing a Special Bond

The session focused on capturing the connection between Susan and Tom, the subtle gestures, quiet expressions, and shared understanding that comes from years together. Some of my favourite images from the day show just that: the gentle nuzzle, the soft eyes, and the freedom to enjoy a slower pace.

Susan chose to showcase these memories in a 4-in-1 frame, combining a large portrait with three smaller images underneath — a keepsake that now takes pride of place in her home. It’s the perfect reminder that high-quality, emotional photography is an investment in memories that last a lifetime.

Why Equine Photography Matters

Whether your horse is full of energy, retired from competition, or enjoying a gentler life, capturing these moments is priceless. Frosty mornings, soft winter light, and relaxed sessions allow their personalities and the bond you share, to shine through.

Preserve Timeless Memories with Your Horse

If your horse has been part of your life through adventure, competition, or quiet walks, now is the perfect time to preserve these stories. Equine portraits aren’t just photos — they’re memories you can hold and display for years to come.

We thought that a frosty day was going to stand in our way for Tom’s photo shoot as the school was hard but it played into our hands. Tracey has managed to produce a series of fantastic ethereal shots, it was fantastic fun and she made me feel so relaxed and there were so many gorgeous photos at the end that choosing was the hardest thing! Have gone back for more with my dogs! Highly recommend for that special photo. Tracey really has an eye for the right setting and she provides a really professional service too.
