Ex-Racehorse Stevie Living His Best Life with Amy

Capturing Memories with Amy & Stevie

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Amy and her ex-racehorse, Stevie. Amy was gifted a photoshoot voucher by some wonderful friends she had worked alongside, and it was such a joy to meet them both at their local livery yard near Oaks in Charnwood, close to Shepshed in Leicestershire.

Amy chose two outfits for the session: a summery, floaty blouse perfect for June, and a more casual equestrian-inspired rugby top by Le Mieux, which beautifully matched Stevie’s head collar. The yard itself was a first for me and it didn’t disappoint. There were so many stunning locations to capture: a charming cottage, a woodland area, and a hillside offering epic views across Oaks in Charnwood. It really was a photographer’s dream setting.

After the shoot, Amy and I went through the collection of images together to decide which products would work best for her home. She chose my popular 4-in-1 frame—a firm favourite for many of my clients. I personally delivered it a couple of weeks later, and it now sits proudly in her lounge alongside her other horse photography frames, a lasting reminder of a beautiful day spent with Stevie.

Capturing these moments—horses, people, and the bond they share is what I love most about equine photography. Amy and Stevie’s session was a perfect example of why personal, thoughtful photography makes such a difference.
