Tiny Paws, Big Smiles: Flat Coated Retriever Puppies in the Amber Valley
Back in June 2021, I finally got the chance to photograph Flat Coated Retrievers, something I had always wanted to do. A lovely contact I connected with on Instagram let me know she had some puppies who were just a few weeks old and ready to meet the camera.
I headed over to Amber Valley and spent the afternoon in their garden with these little bundles of joy. At just 6 or 7 weeks old, the puppies were full of personality, curiosity, and charm. I honestly had so much fun capturing them and these photos are so adorable they’re guaranteed to bring a smile, even on a bad day.
Afterwards, I joined the owner at the local park to photograph the dad, a beautiful Flat Coated Retriever. It wasn’t a full photoshoot, but it was a wonderful little session that rounded off the afternoon perfectly.
As a bonus, I even got to photograph the family’s three-legged cat, a rare treat for me, as I don’t often get the chance to photograph cats!
It was such a simple session but one that left me with so many joyful images. I’d love to photograph more puppies and young dogs in the future, so if you have a furry friend you’d like to capture, I’d be delighted to hear from you.
Tech information, these images were all taken with the Fujifilm X-T3 and the 50-140mm F2.8 lens.
Interested in a puppy or young dog photoshoot? I’d love to help you capture those precious early weeks—get in touch to chat about a session!
