Side Saddle Elegance with Tanya Guest and Querberin
Some photoshoots stay with you long after the camera is packed away. This beautiful session with Tanya Guest and Querberin was one of those days.
Tanya is a side saddle rider and instructor with The Knights of Middle England based in Warwick. Together we created a bespoke equine portrait session designed around elegance movement and three very different looks that each told their own story.
Querberin a striking Spanish PRE was calm attentive and full of personality throughout the session. He carried himself with natural presence and gave us everything from quiet stillness to the occasional cheeky moment that brought real character into the images.
The Spanish Riding Habit
We began the session with a traditional Spanish riding habit.
This look paired beautifully with Querberin and highlighted his strong presence and refined movement. The styling felt grounded and classical with a quiet strength that suited both horse and rider perfectly.
It set the tone for the day and created a sense of heritage and tradition that anchored the rest of the shoot.
Eighteenth Century Inspired Ensemble
The second look moved into an eighteenth century inspired ensemble with clear French influences.
The feathered hat added drama and elegance while the styling introduced a softer more theatrical feel. This part of the session felt expressive and artistic with flowing shapes and a refined historical mood.
It created portraits that felt like they belonged in a painting.
Concours D’Elegance Look
The final look embraced Concours D’Elegance styling.
This brought a polished and refined finish to the session with a focus on presentation elegance and detail. It felt sophisticated and timeless and allowed Querberin to shine in a more formal and structured setting.
The transition between all three outfits gave the full gallery a sense of depth variety and storytelling.
The Horse Behind the Images
Querberin was an absolute pleasure throughout the session.
He stood patiently when needed moved beautifully when asked and occasionally showed a playful side that reminded us all that horses always bring their own personality into a shoot.
Those unscripted moments are often the ones that make the strongest images.
What is a Side Saddle Photoshoot
A side saddle photoshoot is a bespoke equine portrait experience that celebrates tradition elegance and the relationship between horse and rider.
If you have ever wondered what a side saddle photoshoot is it is simply a styled or natural session where riders are photographed in side saddle position often using historical or themed clothing to create timeless imagery.
