A Late Summer Photoshoot with Ally and Buster
September 2021 brought a gorgeous late summer day for an equine photoshoot with Ally and her stunning piebald horse, Buster. From the moment we arrived at the yard in Hartshorne, it was clear how much Ally adores Buster. Their connection is effortless and full of warmth, which made photographing them such a joy.
Ali usually enjoys hacking, jumping and some dressage with Buster, so stepping in front of the camera for a photoshoot was completely out of her comfort zone. She had received one of my Christmas vouchers and decided to take the plunge, and it was a real pleasure to capture her and Buster together. She even shared a wonderful testimonial afterward, highlighting how special the experience was.
We made the most of the yard’s beautiful spaces, from open fields to cosy corners, using the soft late summer sunlight to create natural, timeless images. I focused on a variety of shots, including close-ups to capture Buster’s personality, wide shots showing Ally and Buster in their environment and walking shots that showcase their movement and connection.
Ally chose a relaxed and practical outfit with an oversized shirt, jeans and leather knee boots, which suited the natural, storytelling style of the session perfectly. The result is a collection of images that reflect Buster’s character and Ally’s affection for him.
It was a simple, joyful day with sun shining and laughter echoing across the yard. Moments like these remind me why I love equine photography, capturing real connections, personalities and memories that last a lifetime.
