Autumn Husky Photoshoot at Beacon Hill Country Park
There is something special about photographing dogs in the height of autumn. The light is crisp, the colours are rich, and the landscape feels alive. In 2020, I had the pleasure of photographing two stunning dogs, Badger, a Siberian Husky and Riley, a beautiful Malamute at the iconic Beacon Hill Country Park. It was my first time photographing huskies outdoors, and the session remains one of my favourites.
A Bright Autumn Morning in Leicestershire
Beacon Hill Country Park never disappoints, especially during autumn. The golden leaves, fiery reds, and deep woodland tones created a perfect backdrop for these two striking dogs. The morning was bright, with sunlight streaming through the trees and catching the texture of their coats.
Riley, confident and relaxed, enjoyed exploring freely off the lead. Badger was still in his teenage phase, so he stayed safely on a long lunge line attached to his harness. During the editing process, I removed both the lunge line and the owner from the images to create clean, natural portraits that focused entirely on the dogs. The results were beautifully seamless, with both dogs looking as though they were effortlessly posing in the heart of the countryside.
Riley’s Legacy
This session is now even more meaningful, as Riley sadly passed away in the summer of this year. Malamutes have an incredible presence, and Riley certainly had that calm, steady energy that shines through in the final images. I am grateful we captured these portraits and memories that his family now holds very close.
Badger’s Boundless Personality
Badger brought youthful energy to the shoot. His curious expressions, playful attitude, and striking markings made him a joy to photograph. Despite being on a lunge line for safety, he gave us a fantastic variety of images. With the line removed in editing, every portrait looks completely natural and free-flowing.
Beacon Hill: A Perfect Location for Dog Photography
The park’s mix of woodland, bright open areas, and rugged rocks added depth and variety to the gallery. It is one of the most scenic settings in the Midlands and ideal for dog photography sessions especially those involving active or adventurous breeds like huskies.
Client Testimonial
“TMS Photography gave us a wonderful photoshoot, with two very awkward models! We were put at ease from the get-go, as Tracey joined us on our early morning walk. She wasn't afraid to woof, howl or crawl through the leaves to get those shots, and the results were stunning - a perfect autumnal gallery. Tracey was friendly and professional, and the shoot was fun and informal. I see a lot of people wanting to support small, independent, local businesses this year, and this one comes highly recommended - you won't be disappointed!” Rebecca
A Session to Remember
This photoshoot stands out not just because of the stunning autumn colours or the location, but because of Riley and Badger—their bond, their personalities, and the joy they brought to the session. It was a privilege to photograph them, and I remain grateful that these images now serve as a lasting tribute to Riley.
If you’re considering a dog photoshoot, especially in the beautiful autumn months, Beacon Hill Country Park offers the perfect backdrop. I’m always happy to help you plan a session that captures your dog’s individuality and spirit.
