Rex’s Dawn Adventure at Stanage Edge

There’s something truly magical about photographing dogs in the great outdoors – especially in the heart of the Peak District. When Rex, a super handsome and friendly Staffordshire Bull Terrier, arrived for his dawn photoshoot at Stanage Edge, I knew we were in for a special morning.

We met just as the first light started to break across the hills. The air was still, the heather was in full bloom, and the landscape was bathed in soft pink and golden hues. It was the perfect setting for Rex’s hour-long photoshoot.

Rex was an absolute star. Confident, affectionate, and full of character, he explored the moorland with his tail wagging non-stop. Between his joyful zoomies and those sweet, soulful looks, we captured a variety of portraits that truly reflected his personality.

Stanage Edge is one of my favourite Peak District locations to photograph dogs – not only for its breathtaking views but also because it allows each dog to shine in a natural, relaxed setting. Whether it’s the soft purple heather, rocky edges, or rolling hills, every backdrop adds depth and atmosphere to the photos.

As a dog photographer, I absolutely love these kinds of outdoor sessions. They allow dogs to be themselves — to sniff, play, and explore — and that’s when the magic happens.
